Disability Benefits: Medicare and Other Concerns

Once you begin getting disability benefits, you may also receive other benefits. You will automatically begin receiving Medicare two years from the date of receiving your first disability benefits check. Medicare is a government health program that will aid in paying for your medical treatments, medications and any hospitalizations that you may require. You should receive the verification of Medicare coverage after two years of disability benefits pass. If not you may request to speak with someone about receiving an application and getting the process started. For this, you may need a copy of your birth certificate and other personal information. Many of these requirements will be the same as those you needed to apply for disability benefits.
