A seminary college, or divinity college is a special and oftentimes live-in advanced teaching institution for the intention of instructing pupils in thinking, theology, spiritualty and the divine life, ordinarily in order to train them to become members of the clergy. Scholars in a seminary college particularly of the Roman Catholic Church are known as Seminarists.The word “Theology Degrees” comes from the Latin word seminarium “seed bed”, the neuter form of seminarius “of or associated to seed”, used as a noun. This term is appropriate since a seminary is where the seeds of spiritual up-bringing are sown. The origin of this word is semen “seed”, which originates from the identical previous Proto-Indo-European source that give us the words seed and sow.Other organized religions and cultures also have spiritual schools analogous to Western Seminaries. The Islamic and Jewish equivalents to a Western theological college are called Madrasa and Yeshivah, respectively. Seminaries today provide a great variety of plans and formats for scholars who are not thinking to get into regular Christian ministry. seminary education has become democratized. There are online programs, weekend classes, and cohort-based grades. There are different courses of study designed for pupils who will not get into orthodox professions like the pastorate upon commencement. And there are satellite colleges and other nontraditional settings that permit pupils to attend seminary college without having to travel or to change their life styles.
