The predicament of being without a job in the U.S
Considering the state of unemployment in the U.S. approximately 14.5 million are unemployed and receive the benefits from the state. Though this benefits are not that much, but at least they keep a person moving and can buy food to eat. The government has therefore allowed those unemployed people getting unemployment benefits with part time job to continue working as they receive the benefits so long as their part-time jobs only earn them up to half of that they are getting from the state. Melany says that the part-time job helps her pay her college fees and the weekly benefits from the state help her to buy her food and survive in the tough economy in the U.S Newyolk state. Though the benefits only last for 26weeks, she is hopeful that by then, this being her 12th week, she will have gotten a job to sustain her.
