What Are Some Liposuction Side Effects?
In the early days of liposuction procedures, shock was by far the worst side effect reported. Patients were generally hospitalized following liposuction, and blood loss was quite common. Many patients received transfusions as well as IV rehydration.
With the procedures currently available, however, liposuction side effects are nowhere near as common or significant as they had been in the past.
For example, blood loss is reduced significantly with the development of the tumescent liposuction method, which involves injecting a special solution beneath the skin that numbs the tissues and replaces fluids at the same time. Patients recover more quickly with today’s liposuction procedures.
