One place often ignored by tourists for no real reason is Germany, a country with a long history and culture with a pleasant countryside mostly untouched by modern development. Although Germany is a top industrialized nation, it is one of the few in Europe that has not readily adopted English as a second language so there may be occasions where communication isn't as smooth as you would like.
